Hi, All~
Tom is definitely a seeing, walking, talking miracle in Jesus’ name in progress.
Mechanically: His left toes, foot, and leg have regained their mobility, we are working on strength now. His left hand is just beginning to show signs of movement. He has a brace to make his arm extend rather than contract. If his fingers, hand and arm heal like his leg, we should see movement in the next week or two.
Last Thursday, Tom spoke to me. He said, “I need you.” I replied, “I need you too, honey.” He then said, “I need you (long pause) to take me home.” I think he really wanted to go home - too bad for me. Just kidding!!! He has been talking ever since. The trac tube was taken out yesterday (Tuesday) so his volume should increase. Tom’s enunciation should improve with time.
Tom’s eyesight is also on the mend. We know he is improving; we just aren’t sure what he is seeing. He did tell Mike the other day that he had a cap on his head.
There is always something new with Tom every day. I look forward to seeing what is new today!!!
Thank you for your continued thoughts and prayers. They are working!!
God always answers prayers – they just sometimes don’t look the way we think they should look.

Hi, All~ This week has been exciting with Tom's progress. Thursday, the rehab doctor started Tom on Ridlin. This is used for the type of injury Tom has as it stimulates the area of the brain that was damaged. After one dose, Tom was able to sit balanced on his air bed with the physical therapist bouncing the bed. Huge improvement~~~ Also, he was able to move his right arm on command, open his fist (not on command) and cover his knee. This was also done during the bouncing session. Everything seems so easy to us, when in fact, it takes an extreme amount of energy for Tom as not only is his physical body working, but so is his brain. Now for the best part ~ boy, I sure didn't think I would ever say this about Tom!!! That same day, Tom was asleep after his therapy and I heard a noise I didn't recognize.I leaned down to his chest thinking maybe he needed to cough. Boy was I surprised when I realized that the noise I was hearing was SNORING!!!! Oh, my gosh. This means that air was going through his vocal cords, his mouth was closed, and the air was making it's way out his nose. Wow - I never thought I would be happy to hear him snore; however, I am ecstatic~~~ Tom has been exercising ever since his first dose of Ridlin - even working on his stomach muscles so he can sit up by himself - soooon. One wonders sometimes why it took the docs. so long to give this med., but maybe God's timing is best~~~he knows when we are ready for the next step. I thank God that Tom is a seeing, walking, talking miracle in Jesus' name. Have a blessed day~~~ Patty Turner pattyturner47@msn.com
